Mini Urban Survival Challenge
While most Chinese students were comfortably sitting in classrooms and enjoying another chill day, students at Yiling American High School were given a special opportunity to experience how challenging their lives could be if they were to live on their own. They were divided into four groups, each led by a teacher with 10 RMB equivalent to 1.4 dollar and were requested to accomplish four challenges within 6 hours at four different locations accross the city. Students were not allowed to resort to assistance from anyone else except themselves in sourcing money to pay for necessary food and transportation during the whole challenge. The champion group was the one returning to school with the most money left in their pockets.
This was a unique experience for students who were born with golden spoons in their mouths. 'Life is never meant to be easy and sometimes poverty is wealth', said a student after completing the challenge.
